Wednesday evening report - its good!

Dear Ones,

We are in for the night at our hotel after a very nice time with Nan. We were catching a bite at the caf. and her nurse came in, saw us and gave us a great report. While she was turning mom and getting her ready for the night she noticed Mom was looking at her intently. So she explained to mom that she had been through a lot and asked her if she was in pain, mom made it clear she was in pain by shaking her head. It was another indication that Mom is getting more connected to reality again.

While we were with her Keanna sang her several songs some she made up as she went along, they were cute and the nurse loved them as she sang. Nan tried to open her eyes but just managed a slit of open. Jason talked to her a lot and we all took turns holding her hand telling her how proud we were of her for working so hard to get well. I talked to her about celebrating our anniversary later. Sometimes she moves her tongue in response.

Medically she continues to make progress, slow little steps but the right direction all the same. We are all so proud of her and love the time we get to spend with her. Her nurse explained several medical things she is facing right now. A drain that is draining more than they would like it to drain, not sure where it is coming from inside, an incision that has some less than ideal healing spots at this point in time, a rising white count which could be indicating possible infection, yes there are issues yet to deal with but we are making progress, God is blessing big time and we praise Him for His healing powers.

Overall this has been a good day and we thank you for your kind messages and prayers for a very special woman.

with love

Hi Mustard Family - what good news tonight. That Nan is a real fighter!! Yes, she would have wanted the kids to take in "Cars" - she always wanted lives to go on - just as we want her's to go on now!!! Many prayers going your way tonight - may God wrap His loving arms around all of you and give you a good night's rest. Love, Marilyn in Lincoln

What great news that Nan was responding to her nurse tonight. Also, it is so touching to to know Nan was also responding to Keanna's singing and your words of encouragement to her. This must be the most wonderful anniversary gift you have ever received.
Although there are still other hurdles to overcome, we will praise God for all the progress Nan has made.
    God's blessings,
    Irene Wing

    Hi Mustard Family,
So good to know Nan is aware of your presence and she is able to resond even if just a little. We will continue our prayers that she will continue to heal and her pain will be minimal. May God surround you with His ministering angels to give you strength and peace. Glad you are able to have less costly accommodations soon. You can buy a lot of breakfasts for the cost difference!
You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

    Hi Mustard Family,
What a relief to hear from Carol about Nan's progress and to get your Blog address. My last info was that Nan was facing surgery. I have been lifting Nan daily in prayer. That they removed the tumors is an answer to what she asked us to pray initially. I will continue to ask God to heal Nan so that others might experience her witness of His love and her trust in Him. How grateful I am to have had that experience.

    God's blessings

    Hello Tim and family,

I have been following the progress of Nan for the last 4 days and am so touched, saddened and elated by her "fight".

I know it is so important to her recovery that all of you are close and gently forcing her to awaken.

Nan's attitude has always been so upbeat and strong; I have always been impressed by her positive outlook on her GIST journey.

I am certain that she will pull through the surgery and all of this will be behind you with time and patience.

I have Nan in my prayers and thoughts very often and will continue to follow her progress.

It is wonderful that the "family" is so supportive and strong themselves. I can only imagine the amount of stress that each of you are experiencing. I bet Nan has rubbed off on all of you.

As the Family stated earlier, I bet she will be so happy to learn that all of the visible tumors are removed. That is a miracle in itself. I know she has been through so much and I admire all of the dedication that has been put forth to fight GIST.

This is such great news. I am so happy that the baby steps continue. Prayers will continue an always happy thoughts. Thank you for updating us. Jason and Jo I hope your missionary work is full of blessings and lifelong experiences. It is good that Jason has been able to talk with Nan in small boughts before he leaves. Keanna could make the Grinch smile with her tiny sweet voice. What a blessing to have all of them with you. Take care of each other and take care of Nan.
    Love to you all,
    Pam :)

    Nan, the Mustard's (Family O' Nikki's)

We are all praying and pulling for a full recovery for Nikki's mom. We miss Nikki, but are glad that she has this time to spend with her family and ease her mind over her mother's condition.

I personnaly (Maureen) have never met any members of Nikki's family, but I can see the strong connection that you share, and Nan's fighting spirit is a testiment to that connection.

Again, we all wish a full recovery and strength to all during this difficult time. Nikki and her family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Nan is a hero to so many of us, but getting to know her family better through this blog has made me realize that there is a whole family of heros, and all of their hearts are in Boston right now.

I hope they have managed to control her pain, and I am happy for the good news that she is responding more, and her counts are up.

Love to all of you, and many prayers too.

    Tim and Family:

I've been in Lodi for two days and not close to a computer to keep up with the wonderful news. I'm s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o elated for all of you. With so many many different people praying, God had to honor those prayers.

I echo some of the previous comments about Nan's opening her eyes to you as being a really great anniversary present. I know some day "soon" you will wheel her out to a special little dinner and time together -- even if it is in a secluded corner of the hospital cafeteria as a starter to many more wonderful years together.

    She's a keeper!

    Hugs... Luella
