Its a decent evening
Dear Friends,
We are just back into the hotel after spending quite a bit of time with Nan and her nurse. Roxanna left the hospital parking lot and has a 2 hour drive ahead before reaching East Lyme, CT. It was wonderful to have her with us today, she adds so much life when she is around. Thanks Rick for sharing her.
We are very relieved that Nan's CT scan is clear. Most of the medical personel didn't think she had brain issues but they had to know for sure. Her nurse spent some time going over the present situation with its pros and cons. Tonight she is not on the dialysis machine and is doing fine. They have backed her breathing help down again to a lower level and when she wakes up they will remove the ventilator completely so you know things are getting better. On the negative side there is a chance that she might be working on an infection. They have cultures already growing to check that out. They switched her antibiotic completely to a new one just in case.
No she has not really waked up yet. Most of the people who work with her say it may be the weekend before she wakes up, they base this on experience from other GIST surgeries and recoveries. As of this evening we are now at a week since the surgery and have many things to be thankful for. She is still considered to be officially critical but is much better than a couple days ago. Out of the woods, no way, not yet, she still has damaged kidneys, weak liver and many other smaller issues but we still have considerable hope and are relieved that the brain CT scan came out clear.
I have enjoyed having my children with me and together we have faced all these issues over the last few days. Keanna has been a wonderful spark plug of joy and over and over again has brought smiles to our faces. She is a wonderful little girl and has been very helpful in helping her Grammie begin moving her head and her tongue today. Her little voice singing to Grammie was so touching, we will never forget it.
So tonight things are moving the right way, in short little spurts and then setbacks but we believe the trend is the right way. How can we ever thank all of you for your continual prayers, your many emails, your kindnesses.
We are looking for a good day tomorrow.

keep positive. We are all gratefull that you have chosen to share this with us. Jason great job on the blog. Nikki and Keanna can not wait to have you guys back. And mostly Tim I look forward to when you and Nan pull up in the van and she walks straight to the computer to make sure everything got paid and how orders are coming. Tehee

It is so encouraging to hear that Nan is off of the dialysis machine and breathing on her own. Also, hearing about a clear CT scan is music to the ears of all of us, especially to other GISTers. We know the euphoria Nan will be in when she hears that report after she awakes. As we all anticipate that moment, we know that God is watching over her and all of you,

Good News! So glad the brain scan was clear. She's still with us and fighting just as Nan can. How special that Keanna could sing for her. If that doesn't inspire her nothing will.

The Tracy Church Board Tuesday night (13th) voted to receive and dispense funds thru our 'Families in Crisis' fund. The money will then be sent to the Nan Mustard Recovery Fund. The contributions may still be sent to the church but a more direct way would be to the treasurer, Bob Miller, 161 Ramona Way, Tracy, CA 95376. The church board had special prayer for the Mustard Family and we are encouraged by Tim's reports.
