Friends are precious, Tom and Sharon Miller visit

Dear Friends and Family,

Nan has just gone to bed, has a new dressing on a wound that is looking very good now, perhaps ready for a sponge vac on monday! She has had several vomiting spells today and continues to complain of a feeling of something stuck in her throat. Her vomiting never yields very much, just a little but it hurts her to have to go through it.

This morning being Sabbath and that meant I was not racing off for someplace distant, I made Belgium Waffles. They turned out good and Nan had hers with butter and then liquid apple butter we got at Apple Hill in Placerville. She also had choc milk. About 11 she went up for a nap and I fell asleep in my chair. When we woke up I made her a smoothie with banana, strawberries, vanila ice cream, yogurt, soy milk, ice. It turned out good.

Tom and Sharon Miller came to visit this afternoon. We have known them for about 30 years and treasure their friendship. Sharon used to care for our kids when they were very little, was their teacher when they were starting school, is just a very special person who speaks her mind and has tons of love for kids and for people in general. Tom is the type of guy you wish lived next door. He can do anything with his hands you might need. When he came to Nan's birthday party in January I asked him to bring tools and he hung her 27" flat screen on the wall of our bedroom so she could have a good TV to watch. he did a great job with that. He has a garage with everything in its place, his property, cars, home always look good and are well cared for. They have enhanced our lives many times and we love them very much. It was so good to see them and to just spend quiet time talking about lots of things. Even though nan did not feel very well she enjoyed their visit very much. We even got to sit on the back deck for awhile in the shade and enjoyed the lake view and the warm breezes. Friends are really precious and help pass the time of recovery for both of us. Thanks Tom and Sharon for the visit.

Dana and Jonathan made it to the valley in Texas to visit Sharon with Jonathan driving the most of the way. His knuckles were white from the tension of driving, can you imagine how Dana's nerves were? And I heard a rumor that she threw away her smokes. Great move!! We are very proud of that decision.

Nan and I have just been together today, snoozed, talked, listened to music for hours this morning including a CD of Roger and Carol's choir, how nice to have CDs to listen to. Sounds of Praise were in our home for church today!

I made the mistake of adding up the checkbook this evening and found some missing checks that had not been entered into the account, whoops, hope clients keep sending in money, I'm already thinking about the next payroll and its a week away. nan and I have been blessed with about 20 orders this week. Steve has been great about helping with all he can and I've been traveling from Burlingame to Madera, Modesto to Oakland. On tap for next week are orders for Carmichael, Modesto, Livermore and Oakland again. We are very thankful for orders, they are the lifeblood of the business and we feel every order is a gift from God, however when we get to some of these homes they don't look exactly like gifts, more like poorly maintained dumps. This past week I have seen homes ranging from nearly $3 million to about $220,000 and I couldn't tell you which families were the happiest, money and possessions have almost nothing to do with peace and happiness, yet its easy to be impressed with the nicer homes.

In spite of a tough week with many ups and downs both work wise and car wise and certainly nan's health wise we have had some happy and peaceful moments as well. We are thankful to be home, not in a hospital, it is a blessing to have Nan getting adequate nutrition and fluids, it is wonderful to see the healing take place in her incision wound, to see her move more easily and with slightly more strength. Yet we are so far from being healthy and strong, we have months of recouperation yet I fear.

Nan and I appreciate being a part of a family of friends and relatives, we are grateful that we are not alone through this, that we hear from our kids all the time and that they are encouraging and positive in their calls, we appreciate the visits from Mary, still enjoying the pasta. We are loving the roses from Irene and hate to see them begin to droop a bit.

Its bed time for us. We go to sleep celebrating life and God's blessings and seeking His continual healing.

With love,

tim and nan
