Nan needs your prayers

Dear Family and Friends,
Its 5:17 in the morning and while Nan slept pretty well during the night we are not heading in a good direction. Nan is moaning as she sleeps in the background, is almost totally out of it and can only focus on an answer to a question for a second. She is miserable and may have some remaining fever. Her fever started up last night and while it did not get as high it was there and she suffered terribly from pain that she describes as from all over.
I have spoken to the nurse and asked when the bags were last emptied, it was a long time ago but there is very little urine in them right now. So at the point what is going in is staying in, this is a very bad event. The nurse said there is a CT scan scheduled for today if the fever persists. Nan's right side near the leaking wound is very painful to the touch and swollen more than usual. I wonder if in the process of sampling the pool of liquid that we know is there that that pool became infected.
So at this point what I know is that the kidneys are not putting very much out, that the fevers are continuing, that Nan is barely able to cope with the pain she feels all over and that a CT scan is schedule for today. It appears that the primary issue is infection running rampant in her body somewhere. So far results are not back from blood cultures or urine cultures and that noone is closer to finding the source of the infection than when we came in on sunday night. Her condition has worsened considerably since that time.
Nan is in the most serious condition I have seen her in since Boston.
I am writing now to ask and urge that you lay Nan's case before the Lord with all the ferver that you can. She has faced a lot and once again she is facing some very serious challenges. AT this point she has not been moved to ICU and the nurse has not been in for hours preferring to allow her to sleep. I think it is imperative that I be here with her at all times right now. Not that I can help much but I can keep the pressure on for her care. I am urging that she be properly weighed so we can ascertain the actual fluid retention but really that is secondary to the runaway infection.
I'm just laying it out there, she is very ill and has not turned for the better as I had hoped. I hate to stop writing right now because it feels like I am connected to people who care and know Nan. Prayer warriors please go on duty.

thanks

tim and nan

    Good Morning Tim,

So glad you got a chance to go home and clean up and get supplies.

I was going to suggest that you ask for scrubs from the hospital staff and take a shower in Nan's room just to be clean and feel better.

Hopefully the light of day will bring better things for Nan, nighttime can be so scary.

I cannot even imagine what pain and suffering Nan must be experiencing and it is a blessing that she is at least sleeping through some or most of it. That will surely help the body to heal.

The nourishment will certainly help to build strength.

How can we tell what our bodies can take, Tell Nan that she surely has an amazing constitution when she wakes up.

The kidneys seem to be a very very important part of her recovery right now and need to get working to clean the toxins out of her body and relieve the build up of fluids in her body. At least I think that is what needs to be done.

Could a new infection have gotten into her in Mexico, just wondering about that since she seems to be getting worse?

Your blog from last night telling about your life and beginning life with Nan is so discriptive. I think you should add writing a book to the list of your talents.

The decades of our lives change so much as we go on the cycle of living.

I will be thinking and praying for the both of you today (intensely).

    Hi Tim ~

The news in the blog this morning isn't too encouraging. Tell Nan we love her and are praying for her. She can hear you. Hopefully, today they can find the source of infection and help get it out of her body.

Get another shower today and look sharp when she opens her eyes to see you. It'll make you feel better too.

Be strong. I know these days are tough.

    Love and prayers,
    Marilyn

I loved your story so much Tim that I would like to share a bit of mine.
Nan has touched many lives I'm sure.I have known both of you since 1984 thru Art our shared dear faithful friend, when we all lived in Tracy. Tim and I would take youth groups out water skiing. Then when we moved to Discovery Bay we rekindled our friendship even more. Nan was taking her travel agent classes and I was needing a close friend to confide in. There she was for me taking daily walks and sharing thoughts. Angels are on earth and Nan is one of them for sure! She gave me strength, courage, sisterhood and even a job in their bussiness. And of course there is our Thema and Louise story... we drove from California to Connectict, what a week of driving! In return I introduced Nan to Mary (another gold star earth angel). Who gave Nan a job in her travel business! Mary has been at her side ever since even in Mexico!
Just thought it would be nice to share with you how important their work here on earth is! WHAT IS YOUR STORY?
    Your friend in Ct.
